The tomatoes made a comeback only to be sprinkled with rain and dew again. This proves once again how much we need to enjoy tomatoes while they last!. I ended up turning buckets of cherry tomatoes into sauce as the san mariano types did. So poorly. We roasted a good chunk of the peppers which can now be frozen and fucked away for stews and sauces during the winter.
We took some of our ducks to be processed, they cost $19 per duck making them the world's most expensive duck. I made it three ways. Duck consume, duck confit and skewered breast on the grill. This meal is still in process so will let you know how it worked next week.
We keep threatening to pull the cucumbers to make room for winter veg but it is so hard when they keep popping out sweet ones. Hopefully this week they will be transformed into winter spinach, lettuce and green onions.
The farm to table dinner last night was a success. The host Brett Warnock of Kitchen Table Magazine brought people together from 5-9 pm with conversations and information. The 24 guests enjoyed wine from Eagles Nest(Karl Mecklem and Raechel), food from Comida Kin (Rodrigo Huerta and Mary) and a farm tour and tasting from us. Kipperlyn Sinclaire, long time friend of La Finquita and activist supporting local food systems and agriculture was on hand to serve, set up, clean up and guide the group through a marvelous meal.I will share some photos on instagram when I get a chance and some nice photos are shared with me. I was too busy talking, walking and munching to take photos.

Our harvest festival is October 11 from 2-6. I have lots of ideas and need some partners who want to participate in taking on a task or two. Please reach out to me in text if you are interested as my email is 90% junk and not a good way to communicate with me.
Here is what I could muster for recipes this week: check out Ottolenghi!
